Check Out the Advantages of Microsoft Search in Bing!

Brooke Keyser, Marketing Coordinator

Searching in Bing now produces web and organization specific search results, making it an easy destination for broad searches that include data found within Microsoft 365.  The best part is that it can be used from any device, in any web browser.

You can use the Bing search feature to find files, resources, tools, groups, people and SharePoint sites. It can also find conversations in Microsoft Teams or Yammer. These can be conversations that you have participated in as well as general public conversations that contain information related to your search terms.

According to Microsoft, Bing understands common words and tries to understand what you really want to find. Microsoft Search in Bing understands various search terms and does not require specific names or even correct spellings!

There is an expanded view feature that gives you top results along with a link with more information. You can see up to 10 items including files, conversations, sites and events. It even includes organizational charts and people within the results.

Search suggestions appear under the search box to help you find answers, people and building locations. Simply type in the name of the person, place or thing and suggestions will appear. These are called “Work Suggestions” and they include an icon to make them easy to identify.

You can search your most recent documents to find content within any of your recent Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and PDF files you have worked on, including those files that were shared with you.

Microsoft Search does not use your searches to improve public web results or allow advertisers to target you or anyone within your organization. So, you can rest assured that your search data is not being used for any public needs.
