Cleaning Your Various Electronic Devices

Brooke Keyser, Marketing Coordinator

Mobile phones, computers and tablets connect us to the outside world. However, these items are grounds for breeding bacteria. Now, more than ever, we need to be cognizant of our surroundings and what can spread germs. Interphase Systems has put together a few tips for cleaning your various devices.

  • First, before cleaning your computer or device, be sure it is turned off and unplugged. While disinfecting, be sure to follow any advice and directions from the manufacturing company. If there aren’t any directions available, be sure to wear disposable gloves, use alcohol-based wipes or sprays to kill germs.

  • A mix of alcohol and water can be also useful for devices because other chemicals may damage your computer, tablet, mobile phone, mouse or keyboard. Compressed air is also a great option if you are afraid moisture could ruin your device. Keyboards and mice are not usually waterproof, so compressed air, or the simple shaking of the keyboard or mouse, can help eliminate dirt.

  • The Center for Disease Control recommends using a protective screen for devices with touch screens so that they may be wiped clean effectively.
  • In general, be careful in using household cleaning products on your devices as they could potentially cause damage. Also, be mindful that liquid from alcohol can seep into your device, so be sure to wipe it dry after cleaning and do not use excessive amounts of cleaner.  Most importantly, always clean your device if someone else has used or handled it.
We hope you found these tips useful and please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions.
