Maintain Mobile Access to Office 365 – Now Within One App!

Lew Smith, Director, Consulting Services

Microsoft Office 365 has released its latest app called “Office” for public use. This is the go-to app for access to all of your Microsoft Office work directly from your mobile device. This new app combines Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into a single app and gives you capabilities to create content and accomplish tasks in uniquely mobile ways, helping you to achieve more.  Given the increased needs to work remotely, this app can be a real game-changer for your business.

Millions of business users connect to Microsoft Office every day. Now it is easier than ever to use it on the go! By combining the three key applications within the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) into one app, users can save time in accessing, creating, and modifying business documents from any location. Additionally, this new app allows you to sign PDF’s, scan QR codes and transfer files between devices. Anyone can download the Office app on their Android or iOS device, and it is free of charge. It is not necessary to log in to the app.  However, connecting your Microsoft account allows you to access and store documents in the cloud. Also, connecting this account allows you access to other premium features including those you would find in Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps.

One of the great new features of this app is the integration of lens technology. Directly from your mobile device, you can now convert images into editable Word and Excel documents, scan PDF’s, and capture whiteboards with automatic digital enhancements to make the content easier to read.

In the next few months, the app will also offer word dictation, Excel card views, and outline to Power Point. Word dictation will turn your voice into written text, Excel card views will allow you to view and edit columns without having to scroll across the screen, and PowerPoint will create a presentation based on an outline.

Now more than ever, it is important to further empower your business teams to access data and work from virtually any location with ease.  This new app is another positive step in this direction.
